ACB traps Secretariat outsourcing employee, TSIDC senior assistant in CMRF case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday caught an outsourcing employee at the Telangana Secretariat and a senior assistant of the Telangana State Industrial Development Corporation (TSIDC) while accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe in connection with processing a medical reimbursement claim under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) scheme.

The accused were Anandeshi Raghavender, outsourcing employee at the Secretariat, and Medi Vinod, senior assistant at the TSIDC office at Parishrama Bhavan, Basheerbagh.

According to the ACB, the two demanded and accepted ₹1 lakh from the complainant for processing and facilitating medical reimbursement claims, including issuing a cheque for the ₹2 lakh sanctioned amount and processing the remaining reimbursement claim. The ACB said Raghavender had earlier demanded and accepted ₹5,000 from the complainant through Vinod by way of a PhonePe transaction.

On Thursday, Vinod accepted the ₹1 lakh from the complainant and handed it over to Raghavender. ACB officials caught the two red-handed and recovered the tainted amount from Raghavender at his instance. The ACB said the accused officials had acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The accused were being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
