Congress Working Committee member and former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju on Thursday alleged that BJP government was indulging in ‘witch hunt politics’ in the country. The filing of a criminal case against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was an example of it.
Speaking to The Hindu over telephone, Mr. Rudra Raju said: “Mr. Gandhi had demanded the filing of case against persons involved in the alleged ‘purification’ of the Ramleela maidan in Haldwani, Uttarakhand following the visit of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to the venue.”.
Mr. Rudra Raju said that people from different sections of society had condemned the case filed against Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who in fact deplored the practice of untouchability and caste discrimination. He
He asked the government to withdraw the case immediately, alleging that it was registered with a ‘malafide intention.’
