An IndiGo flight from Lucknow to Dammam made an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after a crew member found a note carrying a bomb threat.

An IndiGo aircraft headed for Saudi Arabia’s Dammam from Lucknow was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday evening after a crew member came across a note mentioning a bomb.

The aircraft, operating as flight 6E97, reached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad Airport at 5:45 pm. The 107 passengers and six crew members on board were safely evacuated after the plane landed.

Airport police inspector A D Chavda said the threat came to light when a crew member found a piece of paper bearing the word “bomb" inside the aircraft.

Following the landing, police and CISF personnel began checking the plane. So far, their search has not revealed anything suspicious, officials said.

The Ahmedabad airport has dealt with a similar incident recently. On August 31, an Air India Express aircraft flying from Dammam to New Delhi was also brought to Ahmedabad for an emergency landing after a crew member discovered a bomb threat written on a tissue paper.

The earlier incident was subsequently declared a hoax.
