BRICS Summit News Today Live Updates: The 18th BRICS Summit is set to take place in New Delhi on September 12–13, with India hosting the two-day leaders’ meeting under its BRICS chairship. Ahead of the summit, key world leaders and senior officials are arriving in the capital for a series of bilateral talks and other engagements.

Russian President Vladimir Putin landed in New Delhi early Friday for a three-day visit. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today, with trade, energy, defence and wider strategic ties expected to be high on the agenda.

Why Is BRICS Summit 2026 Being Held In New Delhi?

India is hosting the summit under its 2026 BRICS chairship, seeking to use the grouping as a platform for the Global South amid rising trade tensions and geopolitical uncertainty.

Food and energy security, resilient supply chains, trade, investment, technology, digital cooperation and development finance are among India’s key priorities. The summit is also taking place against the backdrop of the Ukraine war and the conflict in West Asia.

India’s theme for the year is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

BRICS Summit 2026 Live: Who All Are Attending?

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Russian President Vladimir Putin, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, UAE Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung are among the key leaders expected in New Delhi.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff are also attending.

BRICS Summit Traffic Advisory: Which Roads Are Closed And What’s Open In Delhi?

Delhi Traffic Police has put extensive restrictions in place for the summit, covering more than 35 roads and 22 diversion points. Commuters have been advised to allow extra time and use the Metro where possible.

BRICS Summit Schedule Today: Full Day-Wise Agenda And Timings

Friday, September 11: The BRICS Business Forum takes centre stage, with Putin scheduled to address its plenary session. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Modi and attend the INNOPROM exhibition with the Prime Minister.

Saturday, September 12: The leaders’ summit begins at 2:35pm with a closed-door session on Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism. This will be followed by the Bharat Innovates Exhibition at 4:25pm, a family photo and tree-planting ceremony at 5:05pm, and a gala dinner hosted by Modi at 7:30pm.

Sunday, September 13: Leaders arrive from 9:55am, followed by the official group photo at 10:35am. The opening session begins at 10:50am, focusing on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. The summit will conclude with the New Delhi Declaration.
