Synopsis
On September 10, the BSE faced a brief disruption that impacted various cash segment partitions and specific scrips. Once the exchange addressed the technical glitch, regular operations were restored. However, traders using Zerodha reported issues with outdated prices and order placements on certain contracts. Although Zerodha confirmed the resolution, some users experienced lingering technical difficulties.
ETMarkets.comThe BSE experienced a brief outage from 9:42 am.
The BSE, in a post on X, said it experienced a brief outage from 9:42 am that affected one partition of the cash segment and the scrips mapped to it, while all other partitions continued to operate normally. The exchange said the issue was resolved and normal operations resumed at 10:08 am.
The outage also prompted complaints from Zerodha traders over unupdated prices. Zerodha, one of India’s largest brokers, notified users of an issue affecting price updates and order placement across brokers for some futures and options (F&O) contracts on the BSE. “We’re in touch with the exchange to resolve this at the earliest,” the brokerage said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Zerodha later said the issue had been resolved. “Update [1:03 PM]: This issue is now resolved,” the brokerage stated on its website.
The issue appeared to be brief, with Zerodha later informing users on its website that it had been resolved. “Update [1:03 PM]: This issue is now resolved,” the brokerage stated on its website.
However, some users reported that the technical glitches were continuing even after Zerodha’s update. “Zerodha, for the last 15 minutes prices have not been updating. Who will be responsible for that?,” a Zerodha user wrote.
The same user later reported that the issue had resurfaced, saying, “again price is not updating” as his order did not get cancelled.
Another user also flagged problems with Sensex call options, writing, “Sensex calls not moving! Also, unable to purchase calls or cancel the buy orders too.”
The developments come on September 10, which is the weekly F&O expiry for the Sensex. Wild swings could be expected during the Closing Auction Session if the past few expiry days are any indication.
