Congress’s dirty politics against CPI(M) only serves to strengthen BJP, says CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat

Lashing out at the Congress party over its stand on the Directorate of Enforcement ’s (ED) moves against Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, senior leader Brinda Karat said that Congress’s dirty politics against the CPI(M) only serves to strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was speaking at an event to commemorate former CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, organised by the AKG Centre for Research and Studies in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

“Central agencies are targeting leaders of opposition political parties. In Keralam, a Congress MLA approached both the High Court and the Supreme Court against Mr. Vijayan but failed. The ED, which was lying in wait, seized the opportunity. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph claims that the ED’s actions are justified. Mr. Joseph must clarify whether the ED’s moves were similarly justified when they targeted figures ranging from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States,” she said.

She added that there should be no illusions that the CPI(M) and Mr. Vijayan can be destroyed by using the ED. Ms. Karat said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is subjugating both the country and the Constitution.

“Corporate Hindutva is ruling India. The agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) succeeded in making Prime Minister Narendra Modi realise his responsibilities. The CJP exposed the “Vishwa Guru” as a failure. Mr. Modi and his Ministers must clarify whether they subscribe to the RSS pledge or the pledge enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The Prime Minister labelled those who oppose them as “Dimagi Naxals” (intellectual Naxals). In turn, those who oppose democrats should be called “Dimagi Sanghis” (intellectual Sanghis),” she said.
