Four men from West Bengal were arrested after a joint team seized more than 71 kg of ganja from Palakkad railway station on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
The operation was conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF)’s crime wing, RPF unit at Palakkad and the Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad.
The arrested men were identified as Mainul Islam, 21; Mannan Molla, 38; Tojammal S.K., 36; and Noor Islam, 19, all from Murshidabad. The seized ganja is estimated to be valued at ₹35 lakh.
RPF Inspector Girish C. and Excise Inspector Noufal led the operation. The Palakkad Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad registered a case under the NDPS Act and launched an investigation.
Odisha natives held
Six Odisha natives were arrested with 53.453 kg of ganja at Olavakkode on September 2 by a special police squad.
The arrested were identified as Jikhoria Digal, 22; Phurandar Khura, 34; Judhisdi Bibhar, 28; Labanya Khura, 25; Anilkumar Digal, 28; and Khrist Digal, 45.
The seizures were made a week apart. The police suspect that both gangs were part of a larger network involved in transporting cannabis to Keralam from the eastern States.
