B. Anand, Deputy Registrar of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, has been suspended from service in connection with a vigilance case registered over alleged financial irregularities in the Pookode lake beautification project in Wayanad.
The government had informed the university that Mr. Anand was named as the first accused in the case registered by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), and directed it to adopt action based on the recommendation.
At the time when the irregularities related to the case were reported, Mr. Anand was serving as the member secretary of the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Wayanad.
The VACB submitted a recommendation to the government that the official should remain suspended until the completion of the investigation, citing the possibility that he could influence witnesses or destroy evidence in a manner that could affect the probe.
The suspension will remain in effect until further orders or until the investigation into the vigilance case is completed.
