Lokayukta arrests officer for taking bribe from beneficiary to release funds

The Lokayukta police arrested Gurunath Masali for allegedly taking a bribe of ₹3,000 from a beneficiary, in Bagalkot on Thursday.

Basavaraj Metgud had applied for a cash incentive of ₹3 lakh from the Karnataka Vokkaliga Community Development Corporation. He complained to the police that Gurunath Masali, a first division assistant in the D Devraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation, allegeldy sought ₹3,000 as bribe for releasing the funds.

The Lokayukta police laid a trap and arrested him when he was taking the money, said a release.
