Missing man’s body found

The body of a 26-year-old man who went missing after reportedly jumping into the Shiriya river from a boat while fleeing the coastal police during a suspected sand mining inspection was recovered on Thursday (September 10, 2026), four days after the incident.

The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, son of Abdul Khader and Zainaba of Arikkady Kadavath. Fishermen found his body entangled in a fishing net near the Shiriya estuary on Thursday morning.

Ibrahim went missing around 8 p.m. on September 7 after the Kumbla coastal police reached the area following information about illegal sand mining in the Shiriya river.
