Police recovered a partially burnt body on Monday near an air relay centre close to the bani of Madina village on the Hisar Road in Rohtak.

A charred body recovered near National Highway 9 in Rohtak’s Madina village has been identified as Sher Mohammad, an Ola cab driver from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Police suspect murder and believe his car may have been taken away, while his family has alleged that robbery could be the motive behind the killing.

Sher Mohammad was residing in Delhi and had been driving his relative’s Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as an Ola cab for around a week. Before taking up the job, he worked as an ambulance driver in Aligarh, India Today reported.

Charred Body Found On Hisar Road

Police recovered a partially burnt body on Monday near an air relay centre close to the bani of Madina village on the Hisar Road in Rohtak.

The deceased was later identified as Sher Mohammad following the police investigation. According to his family, the car had been booked by someone on September 7, and his body was discovered near Madina the next morning.

Vehicle’s Last Location Traced To Sirsa

According to media reports, the Ertiga’s last location was traced to Sirsa during the police investigation, but the vehicle remains untraced.

Sher Mohammad’s family believes he may have been targeted for the car. They suspect the perpetrators killed him, dumped and burnt his body, and escaped with the vehicle.

Digital Trail Under Police Scanner

With the victim’s identity confirmed, Rohtak Police have turned their attention to identifying those behind the suspected murder. Investigators are analysing mobile phone data and other digital evidence to piece together the sequence of events and track the suspects.

The investigating officer said police have recovered some important digital clues and are hopeful of reaching the accused soon.

Following the post-mortem examination, the body will be handed over to the family. Sher Mohammad will then be buried in his native village in Aligarh.

The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing efforts to recover the missing Ertiga and identify the accused.
