The Karnataka government on Thursday launched the upgraded KSRTC AWATAR 2.0 mobile application and WhatsApp-based ticket booking facility for convenience of passengers across the State.

The One Karnataka Mobility App brings together the services of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) on a single digital platform.

The upgraded app and WhatsApp ticketing facility were launched by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday during the government’s 100-day programme at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. The initiative is intended to provide passengers with a simple and integrated digital platform for accessing State transport services, according to the government.

According to the press release, the app features a secure user login system through which passengers can authenticate their identity, access details of previous bookings, and manage transactions. It will also allow passengers to register grievances related to all four State transport undertakings through a single platform.

Grievance management system

The grievance management system will enable users to track the status of their complaints, escalate issues where required, and monitor the resolution process. “A digital monthly pass facility is also proposed to be introduced in a phased manner. The facility will allow passengers to book, receive, and manage bus passes online, with QR code-based digital verification,” the release stated.

“As part of the initiative, passengers can now book tickets through WhatsApp for bus services operated by KSRTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC. To initiate the booking process, passengers can send a message to +91 6364940880,” the release added.

Interactive WhatsApp system

Meanwhile, the interactive WhatsApp system is designed to guide passengers through the reservation process in a manner similar to the existing KSRTC online booking system. Passengers have to select their origin, destination and journey date, followed by the preferred bus service. They then need to enter passenger details, verify the ticket information and complete the payment.

Payments can be made through UPI, credit cards, debit cards, and wallets, among other available options. Once the payment is successfully completed, the booking confirmation and e-ticket will be sent to the passenger through both WhatsApp and email.

The WhatsApp facility also allows passengers to cancel tickets booked through the platform. For cancellation, users have to select the “Ticket Cancellation” option and provide their PNR number, mobile number and transaction password received during booking.

Passengers seeking assistance with reservations can contact the KSRTC call centre on 080-26252625, which operates 24x7. The AWATAR Cell can be contacted on 7760990034 or 7760990035 between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
