Nearly two months after he was allegedly murdered in Sharjah, Alwin Prakash Kunder's dismembered body has reached Udupi for last rites, as his wife and son remain untraceable.

The body of Alwin Prakash Kunder, the Udupi native allegedly murdered and cut into nine pieces in Sharjah, reached his hometown on Friday, nearly two months after he was killed. His elder brother, Anil, broke down beside the coffin as the body was flown in via Mangaluru airport for last rites at a church near Shastri Circle in Kundapura.

The 51-year-old had lived in Dubai for several years with his wife Tina and their teenage son. According to a forensic report from Sharjah, Alwin’s body was found dismembered into nine parts, packed into two bags and left in the boot of his car in a deserted stretch of the Al Nahda commercial area.

His wife and son have been missing since the alleged murder came to light and remain the focus of suspicion, with the family demanding that police trace them.

What Does The Forensic Report Say?

The report found two wounds on the left side of the chest and internal bleeding in the chest cavity, though the body’s advanced decomposition made the organs too fragile for a fuller examination, sources said.

A blood alcohol reading of 25.77 mg/dl was recorded. The torso was found in a green bag, while the head and limbs were in a blue one; the head itself had been wrapped separately in black plastic, with the rest of the remains in transparent sheeting.

Investigators say the body had been severed at five points — the head and neck, the lower neck through the abdomen, both shoulders separately, and each leg split at the hip and knee joints.

Where Does The Investigation Currently Stand?

Times of India had earlier reported that Alwin’s family filed a complaint in Sharjah after growing suspicious of messages sent from his phone — texts they found unusual, since he typically preferred voice notes.

The family has since received his death certificate but is still awaiting a copy of the FIR. The family had also flagged inconsistencies from the company’s HR department, which first said Alwin had travelled to India before passport records reportedly showed he was still in the UAE.

Udupi SP Hariram Shankar was quoted by TOI as saying that while Alwin’s brother has submitted a petition seeking help, local police can act only once a letter rogatory, red-corner notice or Interpol alert is issued against a suspect.

Police are coordinating with the Dubai consulate to help the family track the case and said information would also be sought through Interpol channels, per TOI.

The family had earlier told TOI that CCTV footage from the couple’s apartment showed two men and a woman moving luggage, though they said they could not confirm whether Tina had been questioned by UAE police without access to the FIR.

Is Anyone Confirmed To Be Behind The Killing?

No arrests or formal charges have been reported so far, and the circumstances of Alwin’s death remain under investigation. His family has demanded that authorities trace his wife and son, who they say left the UAE around July 26 or 27, though this could not be independently verified.
