Congress workers held a rally to protest in Chikkodi on Thursday, against raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his family members and associates.
Protesters gathered before the office of MP Priyankar Jarkiholi and reached the Basaveshwara Circle. They formed a human chain and expressed anger against the Union government.
They alleged that the BJP-led NDA government was deliberately misusing agencies like the ED to carry out the raids. This is because of the fear of BJP leaders that Mr. Jarkiholi would become the next Chief Minister of the State. They are jealous of his rise in public life.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member Arjun Naikwadi said the NDA’ strong arm tactics would not succeed. Another member Raju Kotagi challenged the BJP to conduct raids on BJP leaders in various States, who were facing serious allegations.
“Mr. Jarkiholi is innocent. We are sure he will give a befitting reply to such attacks, through legal means,” youth Congress leader Jeevan Manjrekar said.
Leaders including P.I. Kore, H.S. Nasalapure, Shankar Gouda Patil, Uday Waghmare, Sujatha Kamble, Sangeetha Kamble, Shivanand Mayrai, Sheetal Munde, Rudrappa Sangappagola, Ramakrishna Panagude, Imam Patel, Sabir Patel, Krishna Jugule, Abbas Ali Koganoli, Karappa Itanal, Sanju Kamble and others were present.
