PM Modi told ministers to drive government schemes forward with a focus on ‘Jan Vishwas’ and ‘Jan Bhagidari’ to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked Union ministers to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance so that citizens can be confident that government welfare schemes and policy initiatives reach them without red tape or leakages.

During the ongoing ‘Chintan Shivir’, PM Modi told ministers to drive government schemes forward with a focus on ‘Jan Vishwas’ and ‘Jan Bhagidari’ to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, top sources told CNN-News18.

The meeting lasted around 4.5 hours, with the ministers divided into eight groups. Each group was seated at a separate table, and PM Modi visited each table individually, interacting directly with the ministers in every group, sources added.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the potential of India’s youth and their crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed India through innovation, skill development and active participation.

According to the sources, the discussions also focused on shifting governance from a top-down administrative process towards a community-led movement, with greater citizen participation in the implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.

The ministers were also asked to align ministry goals, infrastructure development and socio-economic reforms with the long-term objective of transforming India into a fully developed nation.

What Is Chintan Shivir?

The two-day brainstorming session has been convened to take stock of the government’s work, improve coordination, prepare the future agenda and review the implementation of welfare schemes and infrastructure projects, among other issues.

The exercise of reviewing different aspects of governance through such a conclave is expected to continue next week as well.

The Viksit Bharat exercise has been underway since 2021, with 10 sectoral groups of secretaries constituted to prepare short- and long-term roadmaps for achieving the goal of a developed India. Extensive consultations with various stakeholders were also held as part of the exercise.

Since then, eight presentations and discussions have been held before the Council of Ministers on different aspects of Viksit Bharat@2047.

The ongoing Chintan Shivir takes this process forward by bringing together the work being undertaken by groups of secretaries, ministries and departments, the Cabinet Secretariat and NITI Aayog. The discussions cover reforms, ease of living, reduction of compliances and other governance priorities.

Progress of government schemes, policy implementation, time management, inter-ministerial coordination and public service delivery are among the issues on the agenda of the conclave.
