India's shooting team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, and Rudrankksh Patil won silver in the Men's 50M Rifle 3 Positions team final.

India secured silver in the men’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions team final on Friday, with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil putting together a strong showing at the Aichi Pref. General Shooting Gallery.

The Indian trio finished with a combined score of 1762-94x. China topped the final with 1766-95x to claim gold, while South Korea took bronze with 1751-87x. India also advanced two shooters into the individual final, with Aishwary and Niraj earning qualification for the event later in the day.

The result provided a boost to an Indian shooting contingent that had come under scrutiny following medal-less outings in the men’s and women’s 10m air pistol events. The rifle team added another medal to India’s tally, while Suruchi Phogat and Kamaljeet had already secured gold in the 10m pistol mixed team event on the same day.

India began the rifle final with 587 points across the two kneeling series. The team then added 593 points from the two prone series, taking its cumulative score after the first two positions to 1180.

The standing series produced another 582 points for the Indian shooters, taking their final tally to 1762-94x. In the individual qualification, Aishwary ended third with 589-34x, followed by Niraj in fourth place with 588-34x. Patil finished ninth after recording 585-26x.

Earlier, Suruchi and Kamaljeet delivered a record-setting performance in the 10m air pistol mixed team event to capture gold. The Indian duo combined for 484.6 in the final, setting a new Asian record in the process.

The pair maintained their composure throughout a tense final, producing consistent and precise shooting to finish first. Their 484.6 total was enough to secure the gold medal and establish the new Asian record for the final.

Suruchi and Kamaljeet remained in control through much of the contest, handling the increasing pressure effectively. Their eventual score kept the Republic of Korea behind them and sealed the top position for India.
