A 17-year-old girl has alleged that three men posing as policemen threatened her with a gun and knives before sexually assaulting her inside Delhi’s Aastha Kunj Park.

A 17-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-raped inside Delhi’s Aastha Kunj Park on her birthday has told police that the three accused posed as policemen before threatening her and her male friend with a gun and knives, according to the FIR.

The girl had gone to Kalkaji Mandir with her friend on her birthday and planned to visit the ISKCON temple later that evening. She left home at around 5 pm and reached the temple at about 5.45 pm, according to her statement cited by Times Of India.

The two stayed at the temple until around 7 pm before buying chips and a bottle of water near Kalkaji Metro Station. They then entered Aastha Kunj Park through Gate No. 7.

The girl told police that she suggested they sit on a bench, eat the chips and then continue towards the ISKCON temple. Soon after, three men allegedly approached them.

‘They Said They Were Policemen’

According to the FIR cited by the outlet, the men allegedly caught the girl’s friend and slapped him. When the teenagers asked who they were, the men allegedly claimed to be policemen and questioned them about entering the park.

The girl alleged that one of the men took her friend away while the trio took their mobile phones.

She told police that two of the men later pointed towards the bushes and asked her to go there. Frightened, she asked them to speak to her mother if they wanted to question her.

It was then, according to her statement, that one of the accused allegedly said, “Asif bhai gun nikal."

The girl identified Asif as the man wearing a purple shirt and alleged that he was the most heavily built of the three. She told police that Asif showed her a black-coloured gun before putting it back in his pocket.

The three men allegedly then took out knives and led her towards a dark area of the park.

‘Held Knife To My Neck’: Girl’s Allegation

According to the FIR, Asif allegedly removed the girl’s clothes and took her to a red bench. She alleged that he told Hemu, another accused, to stand guard and ensure nobody approached them.

The girl alleged that Asif then put on a condom, held a knife to her neck and sexually assaulted her. She told police that she was crying and in considerable pain.

According to her statement, Asif later threw the condom near the bench and called Hemu, saying he was going to Deepu.

The girl alleged that Hemu then took her to another bench and sexually assaulted her while allegedly holding a knife to her neck.

She further alleged that the third accused, whom the other two called Deepu, later arrived and sexually assaulted her while also threatening her with a knife.

Accused Allegedly Threatened To Kill Them

After the alleged assaults, the girl said the men told her to get dressed quickly. She alleged that one of them gave her a T-shirt and jeans but did not return her bra.

The accused allegedly brought her friend back, returned both their mobile phones and ordered them to leave the park. The girl told police that the men threatened to kill them if they disclosed what had happened.

After leaving the park, she told her friend about the alleged assault. He then contacted the police control room, following which police reached the spot and began an investigation.

The allegations are based on the FIR and the survivor’s statement. The accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
