AJ Hariharan, founder-secretary of NGO Indian Community Welfare Organisation, whose complaint led to the arrest of granite baron R Veeramani in the POCSO case, has alleged that the industrialist may have sexually abused more than one minor girl.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Hariharan said his NGO had submitted a video, along with a written note naming Veeramani and his aide Mahendra’s wife Shanthi, and a complaint to the police last year.

“Other videos being circulated have nothing to do with us. We are not even surprised because the offender has not offended (sexually abused) one single girl. He might have done it to many girls," Hariharan said.

He said the video submitted by his NGO in October last year was different from the video currently being circulated. “What we saw that time during October of last year is a different video. It’s a small girl, tiny, very tiny one, 12-year-old girl, wearing a different colour of dress. And that man was wearing full pants and a shirt. This time is completely a different girl, young grown-up girl, tall, and he was wearing different clothes. And surely it’s a different video," he said.

Hariharan said there had been apprehensions and delays in the case but expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation, citing the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment, the enforcement agencies, judiciary and media scrutiny.

“I think definitely this is moving in the right direction to put the trial at it, to me, demonstrating to all other people who have huge money and they think they can do anything and get away," he said.

“It ought to be a very severe punishment to all the offenders, those who are in the network, so that this will give a severe warning to others who are very rich people cannot do things and exploit poor girls and get away," Hariharan added.

The FIR in the case was registered on October 7, 2025. According to the FIR, an unidentified man had visited the NGO office a day earlier and handed over an envelope containing a written complaint and a 16 GB pen drive.

The complaint alleged that a man identified as Veeramani had sexually assaulted or harassed a minor girl inside a bedroom at the residence of a woman identified as Shanthi in Teynampet, Chennai. The pen drive allegedly contained video footage related to the incident.
