Lalbaugcha Raja Visarjan 2026 is underway in Mumbai as the city’s iconic Ganpati idol makes its way through the city on Anant Chaturdashi. Thousands of devotees have gathered along the route to bid farewell to Bappa.

The procession began from the Lalbaug area and is moving through Chinchpokli, Byculla and other parts of South Mumbai before reaching Girgaon Chowpatty. The idol is expected to reach the immersion point in the early hours of September 26, with the immersion scheduled for the morning.

Devotees unable to be physically present in Mumbai can follow the procession through the Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal’s official online channels.

LIVE UPDATES: Lalbaugcha Raja Visarjan Procession

5:40 PM: Approaching Chinchpokli and BycullaThe grand chariot carrying the King of Lalbaug has slowly traversed past the local Parel lanes and Shroff Building. Guided by the massive sea of devotees and resounding dhol-tasha pathaks, the procession is now heading towards the Chinchpokli Railway Bridge and the Bakri Adda area in Byculla.

Next Immediate Stop (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Byculla Railway StationThe idol is expected to arrive at the Byculla Railway Station area over the next hour.

Tonight’s Milestone (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM): The Traditional Siren SaluteThe procession will soon reach the Mumbai Fire Brigade Headquarters at Khada Parsi. In a deeply emotional, historic tradition, the fire engines will sound their sirens in unison to salute the deity.

5:18 pm: The Lalbaugcha Raja procession is moving through the historic, crowded lanes of Central Mumbai. The idol has recently crossed the Lalbaug Market gates and is surrounded by thousands of devotees as it inches towards South Mumbai.

Current Zone at 5:20pm: Lalbaug Market / Parel area (crossing Shroff Building).

Next Leg: Moving through Bharatmata Cinema, Lalbaug Flyover, Sane Guruji Marg, and Byculla.

Tonight/Early Morning: Passing through Nagpada, Khadilkar Road, Bhuleshwar, and Opera House.

Final Destination: Girgaon Chowpatty, where the deep-sea immersion will take place tomorrow morning.

The procession begins from the Lalbaug area and moves through major stretches of central and south Mumbai. Devotees can follow the live coverage to see the procession, celebrations, crowds and traditional dhol-tasha performances along the route.

The Charan Sparsh queue, which allowed devotees to touch the idol’s feet, was closed ahead of the visarjan preparations. The Mukh Darshan queue, which allows devotees to view Lalbaugcha Raja without touching the idol, remained open until 11.59 pm on Thursday.

As the visarjan procession continues through Mumbai, devotees across the city and those watching online are joining in the farewell celebrations with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya."

Mumbaicha Raja To Be Taken Into Deep Sea For Visarjan

In a first for Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav celebrations, the 22-foot Mumbaicha Raja will be taken into the deep sea for visarjan aboard a modern, specially equipped barge.

Unlike a conventional immersion at the shoreline, the towering idol will be transported farther into the sea before the visarjan. The deep-sea immersion is scheduled to take place between 8 pm and 11 pm on September 25.

According to the mandal, the initiative has received approvals from the Maharashtra Maritime Board, Mumbai Police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The mandal has described the move as a historic initiative aimed at making the immersion of the massive 22-foot idol more organised and secure. The use of a specialised barge will allow the idol to be transported safely into deeper waters for the visarjan.
